Programatic Reviews
Review meetings are evaluations that are conducted periodically aiming at improving the program performance. Conducting regular program reviews represents good practice in managing TB programs. Review meetings are essential for quality improvement and sharing of best practices.
STDCs need to help STC in the planning and conduct of monthly review meetings with the districts.
Planning and preparation for reviews is a crucial step that STDCs need to undertake in consultation with STCs. Advance planning of agenda items need to be done by STDCs on a monthly basis based on inputs from monitoring to decide the themes and topics to be included for review in that particular month. Thorough preparation before review should be done by STDCs to decide what all to be discussed and how to guide the discussions.
During the review meetings, STDCs to ensure that the reviews are based on objective criteria in a consultative mode. STDCs should ensure that the discussions are not limited only to outcomes, but also to inputs, activities and outputs. STDCs also should ensure that districts shared their experiences and challenges, best practices are identified and cross-learning is facilitated.
STDCs should also propose Integrated reviews, (eg joint review of TB-NCD , TB-HIV) where common areas are jointly assessed and synergies are identified whenever required.
STDCs need to ensure systematic recording of minutes of the meeting including time bound action points and communicate the feedbacks to districts within one week of the event. STDCs also need to track the actions taken based on the decisions made in the meeting/ feedback provided.
