Functions of STDC
The overall function of the STDC is to act as the technical arm of the State TB Cell (STC). Acting as the technical arm, it directly is responsible for four major workstreams as below:
- SM&E: In this workstream STDCs would be performing continuous monitoring of program performance through the entire information system and reporting sources. Based on the same it would provide feedback to and collect action taken reports from districts. To understand on ground scenario and compare program vision and achievements it will also need to conduct supervisory visits and evaluate the current performance of the program against the aspirations. The findings of the SM&E activities at the state along with the necessary actions to be taken are to be communicated to the respective districts through the STO.
- Training: In this workstream STDCs are expected to build the capacity of human resources in the state health system in relation to program operations so that they are able to effectively deliver TB services and execute the roles expected of them.
- Technical Support to the STC involves a myriad of activities related to, the ongoing to study the TB epidemiology of the state, prepare and evolve state level TB Elimination strategy, plan, generate evidence and advocate for the resources required for it, and implement new interventions in NTEP.
- supervise and manage the resources at Intermediate Reference Laboratory (IRL) which in-turn is responsible for monitoring quality of Lab service delivery in the state.
Thus the functions of STDCs are further elaborated under these four thematic areas.
