    • Tuberculosis (TB) is a communicable disease that is a major cause of ill health.

    • TB is caused by the bacillus Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb)

    • TB disease typically affects the lungs (pulmonary TB) (80%) but can also affect other parts of the body (extra pulmonary TB) (20%)

    • It spreads when people who are sick with TB expel bacteria into the air (for example by coughing, sneezing, shouting or singing)

    • It is one of the top 10 causes of death worldwide and the leading cause of death from a single infectious agent

  • क्षयरोग -टयूबरक्युलोसिस (टीबी)  हा एक संसर्गजन्य रोग आहे जो खराब आरोग्याचे प्रमुख कारण आहे.
  • टीबी हा मायकोबॅक्टेरियम ट्यूबरक्युलोसिस(M.TB) या जीवाणू मुळे होतो.
  • टीबी रोग सामान्यत: फुफ्फुसांना (पल्मोनरी टीबी-PTB) (80%) प्रभावित करतो परंतु शरीराच्या इतर भागांवर देखील परिणाम करू शकतो. (फुफ्फुसाव्यतिरिक्त  इतर टीबी-EPTB) (20%)
  • जेव्हा क्षयरोगाने आजारी लोक, हवेत जीवाणू बाहेर टाकतात (उदा. खोकणे,शिंकणे, ओरडणे किंवा गाणे) तेव्हा  हा आजार  पसरतो.
  • हे जगभरातील मृत्यूच्या पहिल्या दहाकारणांपैकी एक आहे आणि एकाच संसर्गजन्य आजारामुळे होणा-या मृत्यूचे प्रमुख कारण आहे.
